North London Collegiate School Jeju  - Graduate Assistant Programme 2025-2026

NLCS Jeju is seeking Graduate Assistants for the academic year 2025-2026. This is is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates to play a full and vitally important role in the School's academic, co-curricular and boarding provision; caring for our fantastically dedicated and high-achieved students whilst supporting our experienced and highly-qualified subject specialist faculty staff. A place on the programme would ideally suit someone considering a future further professional qualification and/or role in education, including - but not restricted to - those interested in international education and/or a boarding school environment. Many of our Graduate Assistants opt to apply for a further additional year in post upon completion of their initial one-year contract, whilst many have also gone on to do a PGCE and/or QTS qualification of some kind and are now teachers working at both NLCS Jeju or a plethora of other high-performing schools across the world. A desire to become a teacher is not an essential prerequisite to apply for this role however and there are many and varied roles and placements that Graduate Assistants can do whilst employed at NLCS Jeju that can provide a range of experience suitable for many different future roles or professions. All of our Graduate Assistants live rent-free with meals provided in en-suite accommodation in one of our boarding homes and, whilst this is a demanding and immersive role in a very high-intensity school environment, there is also a good amount of free time across the duration of the one-year initial contract for you to travel widely across Jeju, South Korea and the wider areas of East Asia if you wish. Applications will be considered as they arrive with interviews - and subsequent potential offers - conducted on a rolling basis thenceforth. Please apply promptly to avoid missing out on this fantastic opportunity.

NLCS (UK)

North London Collegiate School (UK) was founded in 1850 by Frances Mary Buss; her aim was to offer an academically ambitious education to girls, similar to that available to their brothers. The School has pioneered women’s education for 175 years and remains among the highest achieving schools in the UK. Exam results regularly top the UK league tables and the School has repeatedly outperformed other prestigious schools in terms of Oxbridge success.

Unlike many UK independent schools, NLCS has a firm commitment to ensuring close links with its overseas branch schools. Every effort is made to replicate the ethos and standards. Wherever possible, staff for overseas schools are interviewed by members of the International Team based at the London school, as well as staff from our overseas schools. Where possible, teachers, once appointed, are invited to travel to London for induction and training at the UK school and this is generously funded by our partners.

Once an overseas branch is open, it undergoes quality assurance visits by the International team, and close links are formed through family of school events, exchanges, joint projects and educational visits.

As the NLCS family expands, it is hoped that partnerships will develop further so that each school develops links with the others. We also hope to see staff join the group in order to build their career with us and benefit from the many professional development and career-progression opportunities, which a group of world-class schools such as ours can offer.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS

In 2011, NLCS opened its first international branch school in South Korea: NLCS Jeju. NLCS Jeju is a co-educational day and boarding school, and offers IGCSEs in Year 11 and then the IB Diploma to all its students in the Sixth Form. It has achieved outstanding results since its first cohort graduated in 2014. The School’s alumnae continue on to top universities around the world, including Ivy League and Oxbridge, alongside other highly-ranked destinations in the USA, UK, Australia and Asia.

In September 2017, NLCS opened its second branch school in the UAE, NLCS Dubai, whilst NLCS Singapore opened in August 2020.

In September 2025 NLCS Kobe will open in Japan.

NLCS JEJU

North London Collegiate School Jeju is a leading International school providing an exceptional education experience for day and boarding students aged 4-18. The first international school to be opened in the vibrant Global Education City on the spectacular South Korean Island of Jeju, NLCS Jeju has rapidly established itself as a centre of educational excellence in South East Asia.

The School has nearly 1400 students on the roll. Last year our average IBDP points score was 37.2 points and 2 students achieving the perfect score of 45 as well as 32% of students achieving 40+points .

THE ETHOS

Every effort is made to recreate the ethos of the UK ‘parent’ school at NLCS Jeju, whilst taking into account and remaining sensitive to the local culture and context.

The School aims to provide a first-rate ambitious academic education for every child, which inspires a life-long love of learning and gives the knowledge, attitudes and confidence to flourish.

LIFE IN JEJU

Jeju Island, 130km off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula, is often described as one of Asia’s best-kept secrets. Jeju’s temperate climate, natural scenery and beaches make it a popular tourist destination for South Koreans as well as visitors from other parts of East Asia.

In 2007, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee listed Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes as a World Natural Heritage site. The island also possesses outstanding geological features and special properties as a habitat for a variety of rare and endangered species.

Jeju provides NLCS staff and their families with a safe, peaceful and breath-taking environment in which to live. The employment pages on the NLCS Jeju website contain further practical information about life in Jeju.
